HOW IT WORKS
The tool is used along with a scientific
calculator and a Range Pole or Level Rod
to measure the elevations of pipe inverts
by subtracting a calculated distance (A)
from the manhole rim elevation. To figure
the vertical distance (A) you would use
the Trigonometry formula. By taking the
cosine of angle b from the Angle Locater
times the measured distance (C), the
vertical distance down is calculated.
Although the Angle Locater only
measures degrees and not minutes and
seconds, the error involved with that is
very very small since we're only dealing
with short distances. Also keep in mind
that the deeper the invert is - the smaller
the angle is.
Since there are no minutes or seconds
there’s no need to convert the angle
to decimal degrees.  This model
has two rod settings which
are designed for the Crain
SVR/USL 25' Rods
and a
Range Pole. This
model will work with
the Sokkia SK
25' Rod too.
